Turntable Taboo

You used to spin me around your world—
You were a diamond dancing,
Stuck in my groove romancing—
I don’t know what you’re trying to prove.

What did I do to you
For you to turn the table off on me?
Now I’m tucked away, taboo
And never to be heard from again.

What are you trying to do to us
Pulling away, scratching me off,
Closing the lid on me and
Silencing the songs between us?

I wish you’d listen to me once more,
All the way through to the end.
I’m sure you’d understand, and
You’d know we were meant to be.
